No it's not a joke

Unbelievable that they are trying to do this during our sea day. Don't worry Mom, I told them to wash them another day and they said okay.

Turks & Caicos wrap up

We left T&C around 5:30 today. Grand Turk is beautiful. The beaches ring the island and the water is a translucent brilliant aqua. Grand Turk is actually less developed than its more commercialized counterpart Providenciales, but Carnival Cruise lines decided to build a port specifically for their ships. And since Provo doesn't allow cruise ships, Carnival is the only line to offer stops in T&C. But I'm not sure how the locals feel about these behemoth ships offloading thousands of passangers onto their tiny island.

We sunbathed for a couple hours midday. Water temperature was still a little too cold for my comfort, but we did go snorkeling in the afternoon. About 60 passengers crammed onto a 78 foot catamaran and "sailing" out to sea before snorkeling along a coral reef wall. Saw some fish, especially when the crew started throwing food (bread) to the fish. The water was freezing, but I wore Eugene's long wet suit and had a good time. Got some nice pictures on the way back to the ship.

At dinner now. Having trouble posting pictures, so updates wiLl be text only.

At dinner tonight

We spent the day in Old San Juan. Ship docked really early - at 7am, and it was so difficult to get up this morning. We've been hitting some cloudy/windy weather and the ship's rocking led me to take another half dramamine last night which left me groggy this morning. Weather today was overcast, but no rain.

We had an appointment this morning to view another hotel. Ended up really liking it -- old world charm with modern amenities. The only thing is that there is no beach and limited bay view. But the property is beautiful.

Afterwards, we wandered around Old San Juan, which brought back memories of the last time we visited. We had lunch at Cafe Manolin. Ordered traditional Puerto Rican fare: Mofongo con pollo, and onion steak, with fried plaintains and rice & beans. Yum! We did some shopping and browsing, petted a dog in the Pampered Pets store, got some coffee at a cafe near Pier 2 and then headed back on board.

We were so sleepy at this point that we ended up taking a 3.5 hour nap! So, sorry not a lot of pictures today! At dinner now - it's quite late, but at least there's no line for dinner. We are emroute to Turks and Caicos and the seas are choppy, keeping some passengers in their rooms.

We have a snorkeling excursion planned for tomorrow, currently scheduled for the afternoon, that we are trying to change to morning. I just hope it will be sunny and warm.

Bumpy seas

We are headed tonight to our last port of call - Grand Turk in the Turks and Caicos islands. We are really looking forward to this stop because it is supposed to be very scenic and we are anticipating good weather. We have also booked a snorkelig excursion. Of course diving would be more preferable (T&C is one of the top diving destinations in the Caribbean), but somebody is not big diver in this group... hint hint...

Tonight the seas are quite rough but we are taking it in stride and trying to ignore it. We are staying away from the dramamine as much as possible as it makes us very sleepy. I am still keeping up with my yoga on our awesome balcony, thought the exercise where I have to stand on my toes is wits challenging with the motion of the ship.

Hard to believe we are the only ship here. But Magen's Bay was already pretty crowded, so I'm glad it was just our ship. Got some sun this morning, but the weather turned cloudy and windy towards midday, so I headed back to the dock.
