Arles

We are in Arles, where Wenjun has managed to find us a bullfight to watch. This is a more "humane" version (course Camarguaise)where the objective of the "razeteurs" (from the word razer, to shave) is not to kill the bull, but to pull off ribbons ties around the bull's horns. As we have realized, it's not actually totally humane as the bull still gets hurt in the process from jumping over the ring barriers. Also, the people have these claws to help them get the ribbons off the horns, and these also injure the bull. But this is certainly a sight to see and we are hoping to have some videos posted soon. The bullfight takes place in a spectacular Roman amphitheatre, which I believe appears in some Van Gogh paintings.
