Thoughts so far on cruising Carnival Liberty
1) Our room location is awesome - Lido deck 9 where all the action is. All the pools are on this deck, the casual restaurant Emile's, and access to the sports deck. Our room is close to the elevators, but separated by a sound barrier wall for privacy and noise control. Also, our side (starboard? Odd numbers) is always the sunny side, somehow...we're not sue how that works out.
2) Balcony room is reeeaaallly a nice perk. The Lido deck is super crowded, chairs and loungers fill up fast, and the club music pumping through the deck can wear on you. Kids running around, chairs scraping. With the balcony, Eugene does his yoga in peace, we can nap there in the afternoon sun, enjoy lunch there with the free room service, etc.
3) Dining is a bit of a zoo. We were advised to choose "Your Time Dining" which means you can go to the sit down restaurant any time, no assigned seating, but you may have a wait. As a party of two, it's definitely easier to get seated that way, but you still wait in the line for 20-30 mins to get to the hostess. It may be a flexible option, but I think the assigned seating times of 6:00 or 8:15 might be better. The wait staff can be hit or miss. Rushed or slooooow. Friendly or distant. Knowledgable or bumbling. After 2 days of oversalted food, we asked them to special order a low sodium meal which worked out nicely after a few miscommunications.
4) The ship is HUGE. 14 decks, lots to do. We've seen the comedy show, played in the casino, ran along the outside track, used the indoor gym, shopped for jewelry. Definitely many many opportunities to spend your money here.
